To select which group of potential patients to go after, you have to understand what makes your practice different from your competitors. Does your med spa have a spa-like atmosphere? very medical? edgy? traditional? You must determine the identity of your med spa and figure out which people will be most attracted to this identity. Once this has been determined, all marketing initiatives should be directed at the market segment you are going after with messages that will prove attractive to this segment.

III. What makes med spa marketing different?

In the med spa industry, unlike in other fields of medicine, you are reaching out to patients who are electing to have procedures done. In other fields of medicine, it is usually medical necessity that brings patients to your practice. In the med spa industry, patients typically come to your practice to look younger, feel more beautiful, and be more self-confident. Your med spa marketing needs to reflect this.
In some ways, however, the med spa industry is like other fields of medicine. Specifically, in both med spa marketing and other fields of medical marketing, the most important marketing tools are repeat and referral business. IV. Standing out from your competition:

It is critical for your practice that you stand out in a positive way. You must give patients a reason to choose you over the other med spas that are out there. In marketing this is called positioning and differentiation.
Your med spa must be positioned in the market so as to stand out to customers and stand apart from competitors. This can be done through the procedures you offer, the price you offer them at, the identity of your med spa, your location, your med spa marketing, etc… Whatever it is that makes you different and better, you have to let your customers know, and convince them that because of this differentiation they should choose you.
